Broker’s take on GENTING SP

Las Vegas Sands read thru for Singapore.. SOLID VIP +40% QoQ, Mass mkt flat, was expected to decline. Given Macau crackdowns this may indicate a small but meaningful shift. +VE GENS.SP, don’t be short! 300m shares out there still short.

This may still just be short covering but 1.50 key level for the stock – we think earnings will start to rebound from this quater onwards with the Integrated resort now fully opperational and VIP hotels up and running.

Market Morning Wrap by Decoder – 31 Jan 13

• 3668 HK – Chinalco Mining IPO @ HK$1.75, latest grey is @ HK$1.63 or -6.9%.
• Facebook -3.7% in afterhours trading due to commentary from management that they will focus on increasing headcounts for future plans and not on growing profits this year.
• S&P report says that Spain’s access to the capital market has improved.
• Olam’s newly issued bonds/warrents will debut today.
• Overnight markets was sold off in the afternoon session as wte 4Q GDP numbers spooked the markets. This decrease is due to the weakness in defense spending as well as trade figures. The Fed on the other hand offered a mixed view on the economy and pledge to its bond buying program intact. ADP employment was bte, came in at 192K Vs 165K est. Corporate earnings continued to surprise on the upside with Amazon/Boeing/Qualcomm/LV Sands all beating estimates which lend support for yesterday’s trading. Nearing month end, we are watching out for possible window dressing in action but Kospi/Nikkei both showed weakness instead after the opening bell. Markets are looking out for reasons to take a breather after the recent run and a wte GDP might just be the right one. Expect regional markets to take some profit off the table while they continue to trade within the uptrend channel.
